water temp: unknown
water level: low
Spring time fishing on Dunlap is just around the corner. Water temperature should begin to rise in the next month and the rise in water temperature will kick off the bass spawn season. Spring fishing on Dunlap has always been fun.
Lake levels are still low so be careful. Last report was to return the water levels to normal pool starting January 31, 2012. If the water levels remain low during the bass spawn, it would have a great impact to the future fish populations for Lake Dunlap.
During the prespawn, the bass will be in the pursuit of food. Best locations will be at the creek openings that lead to bedding areas. I like to throw crankbaits, spinnerbaits, or swim baits and to catch prespawn bass. I can’t wait to get out there and try my newest fishing technique, the Alabama rig. It is designed for this bass pattern.
During the spawn, move to the shallows and look for them on beds. Use your favorite soft plastic to entice the bite, then hold on!
Good luck on the lake and remember, be safe and keep fishing FUN!!
