From the President’s Corner…
Greetings to all. Hope you read our end of the year report (The
Lake Watch, December 2004) so you know how much your
directors accomplished this year on your behalf. If you
missed the report, review it on our newly revised website,
www.PLDA.org. Not mentioned in the report is that our
efforts also helped PLDA see a dramatic increase in the
number of members!
Speaking
of which, March begins our Membership Renewal drive. Your
dues enable us to continue to underwrite special projects
and maintain a public “voice” in matters regarding Lake
Dunlap. Please, complete the enclosed membership form,
attach your check and return both in the enclosed
self-addressed envelope. Let your volunteer directors know
that you support their efforts on behalf of Lake Dunlap!
Don’t
forget to order your 2005 flag at the same time—the flags
are ready, but we have only a limited supply. Last year we
had more requests than we had flags, so order NOW.
It is
also time for our annual General Membership Meeting—Friday,
April 1,
2005. Details are on the back page of this newsletter.
We’re serving our usual free beverages and delicious
tamales, so don’t be late.
A major
purpose of the General Meeting is to elect PLDA’s Board of
Directors for the coming year. A number of current directors
will not be returning, so think about serving and encourage
others to participate as well. The coming year promises to
again be busy, especially as our battle with NBU continues.
Serve as a director—help make the Guadalupe River and Lake
Dunlap better for us and for those who follow.
Important too is that the Board of Directors has been
working to revise PLDA’s Bylaws. We expect to discuss the
anticipated changes with you at the meeting. Be sure to
attend.
This
month is my last as your PLDA President. I would like to
thank all the current board members for their support and
continuous help during the past two years of my presidency.
I would also like to thank my wife, Ginger, who helped me
with my duties, as well as produced the PLDA mailings
including The Lake Watch.
See
you April 1,
Kent
Kottler |

Lake Dunlap is open and
the GBRA reminds us to…
KNOW YOUR LAKE
Recent
floods may have changed or added lake obstructions,
so enjoy the lake with extreme caution and remember…
-
All boating and water sports at your own risk.
-
Get to know the lake as it is now.
-
Lake may contain exposed or submerged flood debris.
-
Channels and locations of previous obstructions may have
changed.
-
Be
aware of glass, metal, wire or other objects.
-
Remove or report any liquid-filled containers.
Until
you are familiar with post-flood lake conditions, the
GBRA strongly recommends…
