PLDA Update - March 11, 2020

March 11, 2020 PLDA Update Dear neighbors, Woo Hoo!  We're just ONE WEEK from the Third PLDA Town Hall, and we're hoping we can get every homeowner there!  We've been working hard to prepare and can't wait to share the exciting news we'll have about our lake.  Here are the meeting details: 1) Third Lake Dunlap Town Hall. This meeting will be in the same location as our last one, at the New Braunfels Convention Center on March 18, 2020 at 6:30 pm.  This Town Hall will mark a huge milestone for us as it will also be the kickoff for the special election to formalize our district. As we promised back in October, we are planning to provide a considerable amount of detail on questions you've asked us to address ahead of the May election.   That leads us to the next item: 2) The newly-updated FAQ is now available.  You can download it here.  While our list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) has grown to 11 pages, it includes a lot of new details that we think are critical to making your voting decisions.  We worked hard to try to anticipate the questions you may have and to provide answers to you ahead of the Town Hall.  We will also have these in hard copy at the meeting next week. 3) Important Voting Update.  We recently learned that there are other elections going on in Comal County on May 2 (NBISD and City of New Braunfels).  To avoid causing any confusion or inconvenience to voters, we have revised our election agreement to align things so people can vote in all the elections they qualify for (based on their registration address) at any polling location.  District residents will now be able to vote at any of several locations in Comal county plus two in Guadalupe County.   We also have the details on early voting and mail-in ballot options.  Full voting details are here.   While all of the voting sites in both counties will work for district members (ie, you can pick whichever location is most convenient for you), our site on the 725 side will be Church of the Nazarene (technically Klein Rd) and on the 46 side it will be Clear Springs Elementary in Avery Park.  These are probably most convenient for our folks, and both will have all the elections people can vote in based on their registration address.  The other voting sites are scattered about the city and county. 4) Voter Registration deadline is coming soon. If you plan to vote, be sure you are registered by no later than April 2.  For all the specific requirements and details on that, or to check your current voter registration status, please see the Secretary of State's voting webpage at https://www.votetexas.gov/register-to-vote/ 5) PLDA Annual Membership Meeting April 3.   The PLDA's annual membership meeting will be held at the RiverBend Ballroom at 451 Riverbend Drive.  The event kicks off at 6 pm with time to meet and greet, and to enjoy a complimentary dinner with your neighbors.  The formal meeting starts at 7 pm, and will focus on the accomplishments of the past year, and the upcoming Lake Dunlap WCID election. The meeting is open to all active PLDA members, but not to worry — you can renew your membership or join PLDA on site — see details on the various levels at https://www.plda.org/join-plda As we continue the efforts to fix our dam, please know how much we appreciate your support.  We look forward to seeing you soon!   "It's a great day on Lake Dunlap."
