Lots of news again this week, so let's jump right into the update.
1) PLDA Town Hall set for October 9. Our next Town Hall will be held Oct 9, 2019 at 6:30 pm. at the New Braunfels Convention Center, located at 375 S Castell Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130.
We plan to use the forum to update the community on the considerable progress toward fixing the dam since the first Town Hall back in early June, and to try to address questions that the audience may have. This meeting is again open to the public, and we are especially encouraging all lakefront property owners on Dunlap to make plans to attend.
2) Upcoming City Council Action September 23. We now look forward to the City passing a formal endorsement of our WCID application, scheduled for September 23, 2019 at 6:00 pm at City Hall. We hope you can join us there to show your support for our application to the city!!
3) Lake Dunlap diesel pumps have shut down. We are advised by GBRA that the pump relocation project at the dam is complete. The diesel pumps will remain for a short while longer, but are not running any longer. Water operations have converted to electric pumps, and the noise has stopped.
4) Add your name to the WCID Petition! We have heard from many of you that you would like to have a chance to include your name in the petitions submitted to the TCEQ, so we are planning another petition event for a week from today, Saturday, September 28, from 3-8 pm. We absolutely want to give any waterfront property owner who wants to add his or her support to the WCID application a chance to do so.
If you want to sign a petition, and are a waterfront property owner, all you need to do is come to the Off the Clock roadhouse between 3 and 8 pm on the 28th and bring your driver's license. If both you and your spouse are on the deed, both of you can sign a petition, so make a date of it!
We'll have notaries on hand, just as we did last time, and will make it fun and easy for you to add your petition to the application in a flash! We'll send another email out next Friday with a reminder, but here are the details:
Date/Time: Sept 28th, from 3pm - 8pm Location: Off the Clock, 4409 FM 725, New Braunfels, TX 78130
If you want to help with the WCID and were not part of the trial run a couple weeks ago, we hope to see you there!
As always, for the latest and most accurate news about Lake Dunlap, continue to look to the PLDA. We remain steadfastly committed to moving forward on all this in the spirit of collaboration, community, and full transparency.
